The Health Care Ruling is a Big win for....

...the Supreme Court.

The Chief Justice, by joining the left and upholding the law, saved the Supreme Court from being looked at as only a political body.  If it would have struck down the ACA on political 5-4 voting lines, it would have been Bush v. Gore all over again (which was the Rehnquist Court, not the Roberts Court), and the Court would have been delegitimized.  But now, even though Republicans and Democrats will fight over this in the upcoming elections, the Court will be seen as more neutral than in the past.

I believe I may be confused. Someone correct me if I am wrong. The Court held that the coerced Medicaid expansion is unconstitutional, so now States have the option to expand, but no expansion will occur until a State chooses to. So, universal healthcare is not so universal, right? However, the Court upheld the tax on not having health insurance of anykind. So, people who can't afford healthcare will be taxed for that. How has this accomplished anything positive?! The only thing I take from this is that the Feds now have the unprecedentd power to tax people for inaction. Does that mean people can now be taxed for not having income? Maybe the Court saved face by leaving the Act in such a miserable condition that is now up to Congress to fix this mess...
